Cryotherapy Q & A

What is cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is the application of cold for the treatment of acute or long-time injuries or diseases.

Dr. Noor uses Cryofos, an innovative and cutting-edge neuroreflective device, for pain therapy, to ensure rapid, effective, and long-lasting pain relief. This type of cryotherapy accelerates the healing process by using hyperbaric CO2 gas to bring sudden cooling to the injured site.

What conditions does Cryofos treat?

Cryofos treats acute and chronic sports injuries -- and various chronic musculoskeletal conditions -- by shortening your post-surgery rehabilitation recovery time. Dr. Noor uses Cryofos to treat several common conditions:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Hand and wrist surgery
  • Ankle and knee injuries
  • Hematoma
  • Physiotherapy
  • Emergency sports injuries

How does Cryofos therapy work?

Cryofos is a natural therapy that uses your body’s mechanisms to relieve pain and swelling. After your initial consultation to determine your candidacy, Dr. Noor schedules the procedure.

To perform this simple procedure, Dr. Noor only exposes the treatment area (traditional forms of cryotherapy require getting fully undressed). Next, he targets the site with pressurized hyperbaric CO2 gas that passes through a tiny nozzle at the temperature of -78°C and cools the skin by 2°C-4°C.

This abrupt “thermal shock” dilates blood vessels under your skin that carry away the inflammation-causing agents. This treatment also inhibits your pain receptors, which decreasing swelling, bruises, and pain.

What are the advantages of Cryofos?

Cryofos therapy has several advantages over other cryo-therapies, such as ice-packs, ice towels, ice massage, gel packs, and refrigerant gases. Other advantages of Cryofos include:

  • Natural and easy to use
  • Effective for a wide range of conditions
  • Quick and effective pain relief
  • Completely safe
  • A high rate of patient satisfaction

When is Cryofos not recommended?

Patients with diabetes, who are allergic to cold (Raynaud's disease), or have gangrene or open wounds aren't good candidates for Cryofos. This treatment is not used to treat injuries involving your eyes, mouth, or anus.
